POAH opening its first all-electric Chicago apartment building this week

.."A newly built $38 million apartment building on the West Side marks the beginning of the Preservation of Affordable Housing Inc.'s plans to develop all-electric buildings in Chicago.

A Thursday grand opening is planned for the 43-unit Fifth City Commons at 3155 W. 5th Ave. in East Garfield Park, which includes 4,300 square feet of ground-floor retail space that will be occupied by a bookstore with a café.

“Moving forward, any new construction we do will be an all-electric building,” said Bill Eager, Midwest vice president for POAH. “That’s the direction we are going in with our new developments.”
