A covered construction walkway outside a Woodlawn apartment tower has been transformed into a colorful public gallery showcasing artwork by more than 50 Hyde Park Academy students.

The installation lines the pedestrian passageway at Island Terrace Apartments, 6430 S. Stony Island Ave., where a major building renovation project is underway. First unveiled in mid-March, the display includes 11 large vinyl banners printed with more than 100 original student works.

The project was organized by the Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH), which owns the building, in partnership with BKE Designs and Hyde Park Academy. The banners are expected to remain in place until construction is completed in June 2027.
